My dad and aunt are leaving the hospital (it’s 10pm for them) to get some rest, and leave my mom to get some of her own.
According to my dad, my mom was awake and aware and energetic (or as much so as you’d expect) during the afternoon. She wasn’t in too much pain, but did take a Vicodin to sleep so she should be okay throughout the night. Her already-low blood pressure was a bit lower than normal, but the nurses quizzed her on dizziness and other signs associated with hemorrhaging and decided it wasn’t worrisome or surgery-related.
All concerned are hopeful that she’ll be discharged tomorrow, hopefully about the time my plan lands in Des Moines, which would be oh-so-convenient. If not, we’ll stay with her until Amy’s plane lands at about 8:30, then take her to see mom, then head home.
Talked to my dad just after he’d talked to the doc this morning, and “everything had gone well so far” according to the doc. My mom was in recovery, and my dad said he’d be allowed to go in and see her in half an hour.
3pm Edit:
Talked to my dad again, and my mom’s been moved out of “recovery” and into her private (?) room at the hospital. She was given some pain meds and had just successfully fallen asleep about the time my dad called. She’ll be in the hospital until at least tomorrow, and possibly Sunday. The surgeon was supposed to stop by “this afternoon” but my dad wasn’t sure why–I’m guessing to check stitches or whatnot?
I haven’t talked to Amy, but she’d called my dad this morning, too, and I’ve left her voicemail. Think we’re all doing reasonably well.
And heh, Amelia’s wearing her “Win!” t-shirt, so that right there’s gotta help!!!
